Bringing the diagnostics to the field
Understanding the origin of a problem is the first and essential step in order to solve it. This phrase condenses the essence and purpose of diagnostics. Putting the exact pathogen name on a symptomatic plant, is not a merely intellectual exercise, but is the beginning of a successful action plan that will eventually lead to a healthy a profitable crop production.
Plant diseases can have several negative impacts a grower’s activities. From decrease in crop yield, unmarketable products, to the contamination of the greenhouse with quarantine pathogens and its legal consequences. If the grower is delivering young plants, the problems can appear on customer’s greenhouses, causing damage to the company reputation and image.
Since 1981, Agdia has been dedicated to helping growers manage plant disease through early and routine diagnosis of plant pathogens.
Using our ImmunoStrip® will help you to:
– Confirm your disease diagnosis,
– Allow you to detect diseases early,
– Provide you the option to treat only when necessary and use the proper management against the disease.
As a result you will maintain good crop quality.
ImmunoStrip® are also used to determine transgenic traits (GMO). The main applications are:
-
– Adventitious Presence (AP)-Testing of a bulk grain sample or seed lot for unintended genetically modified traits
-
– Trait Confirmation –Test to verify if the intended trait is present in single seed/single leaf samples (Quality Assurance)
Who use ImmunoStrip®?
For Plant Pathogen:
- · Greenhouse/ornamental and vegetable growers
- – Quickly detect symptomatic plant material before it is a problem; make management decisions to accept or reject new material.
- · Port-of-entry sites
- – Detect plant pathogens being imported or exported.
- · Large commercial plant propagators
-
– Check mother stock; screen plants before sending to customers
- · Seed producers
- – Used in winter nursery setting.
-
For GMO and transgenic traits:
-
– Seed Companies, Growers, Government Agencies, Seed Quality Assurance laboratories, Grain Handlers, Crop Improvement Agencies, Seed Brokers, 3rd Party Testing Facilities and Universities/Researchers.

How to use ImmunoStrip®?
Samples can be taken from the leaves, stems, roots, or seeds (when testing trait/GMO). Insert your sample between the mesh linings in the buffer filled bag. Grind sample by rubbing the outside of the bag with a blunt object.
The Flashkit® is then placed vertically within the mesh bag with the tip of the strip immersed in the extract. The development time is 15 minutes.
How to interpret ImmunoStrip®?
All rely on a strip control line that appears at the top of the test zone. The appearance of this line ensures that the strip is working properly. If the pathogen or GMO is present in the extract at detectable levels, a second line will appear below the control line. The presence of just the control line indicates a negative result. The presence of two lines indicates a positive result, see above.
Our ImmunoStrip® contain two types of lines in the test area, a control line and a test line. The control line assures that the test is working properly and should always appear. If the control line does not appear, the test is invalid. A red to purple colored test line will appear below the control line if a sample tests positive. If the sample is negative, only the control line will be visible.
ImmunoStrip user testimonial
“We are very happy with ImmunoStrips, the tests are very easy to use and we can obtain a good result within 15 minutes. There are many different clones of plants, with this test we can check all the different clones and provide our customers with clean plant.”
